Ford Expedition Interior

As a full-size SUV, the Ford Expedition boasts three rows of seats with enough room for up to eight passengers in total. Rear-seat passengers will be able to sit back, relax, and kick their feet up with 41.5 inches of legroom for the second row and 36.1 inches of legroom for the third row. As the driver, you'll get 43.9 inches of maximum legroom.

If you need to bring some luggage, bikes, or other gear along, the back seats fold down flat to create a level loading space. You'll have the following cargo dimensions to work with:

  • Cargo volume behind first row: 104.6 cubic feet
  • Cargo volume behind second row: 63.6 cubic feet
  • Cargo volume behind third row: 20.9 cubic feet

An even longer wheelbase is available on certain trims too. This extends your total cargo volume to 121.5 cubic feet behind the first row.

Ford Expedition Towing Capacity

The Ford Expedition is a strong and capable SUV with the ability to tow small recreational boats or a couple of jet skis. With the standard 3.5L EcoBoost® V6 engine, you'll be able to reach a maximum towing capacity of 6,600 pounds when properly equipped. This engine also produces up to 375 horsepower and up to 470 lb-ft of torque.

A 10-speed SelectShift® automatic transmission rounds out the powertrain to maximize power, while the available Terrain Management System™ allows you to switch into Tow/Haul mode and optimize towing capability. Tow/Haul mode moves upshifts to higher engine speeds to reduce transmission shift frequency. It also provides engine braking to slow your vehicle when traveling downhill.

Ford Expedition Trim Levels

You'll get to decide between five different trim levels when you drive the Ford Expedition. Your options are:

  • STX
  • XLT
  • Limited
  • King Ranch
  • Platinum

If you want just the standard features, then the STX trim could be a good fit. This base-level trim comes with the Ford Co-Pilot360™ suite of driver-assistive features like BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) and Automatic High-Beam Headlamps. The SYNC® 3 infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen and Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility also comes standard.

Every other trim adds on from there. For example, the Limited trim is the first to include the Ford Co-Pilot360™ Assist suite with Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go and a Voice-Activated Touchscreen Navigation System. By the time you get to the Platinum trim, your Expedition is equipped with all the bells and whistles, including luxurious features like the Wollsdorf leather-wrapped steering wheel with Pecan Euro stitching.
